These key policy actions include EMCA ACT 2015, Agriculture Act 2013, Polluter pays principle, Water Act 2016, Fisheries Management and Development Act, 2016 (No. 35 of 2016), Wetlands policy 2013, Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Act, 2013 (No. 17 of 2013), Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Authority Act, 2013 (No. 13 of 2013), Kenya 10% tree cover strategy, Forest Conservation and Management Act, 2016 (No. 34 of 2016) and Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, 2013 (No. 47 of 2013).
In support of the East Africa Community (EAC) Polythene Materials Control Bill, 2016 which proposes a total ban of plastic bags in the EAC countries. Kenya has already placed a total BAN on plastic bags with effect from August 2017. The Draft Environmental Management and Co-ordination (e-Waste Management) Regulations, 2013, to restrict the prior informed consent chemicals are under consideration. Monitoring and control of chemical and hazardous facilities on their impact on human health and environment.
Other laws include : National Environmental Policy , 2014, Air Quality Regulations, 2014 , Kenya Standards Act, Cap 496, Kenya Standard(KS 1515): Code of Practice on Inspection of Occupational Health and Safety Act, 2007, Public Health Act, cap 242, National Transport and Safety Act, 2012 and Energy Act, 2006.
Pollution deterrent legislation including Kenyan constitution 2010 reviewed and enacted.Water quality regulations and solid waste management regulations in place.
Management of waste and pollution within protected areas undertaken in collaboration with stakeholders.
Establishing of urban rivers programme to minimize pollution.
Optimal fertilizer use initiatives promoted.
Organic farming practices promoted.

Priority invasive and alien species identified and control measures initiated.
Legislative and institutional framework to implement Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety among others established.
Biotechnology policy 2006 under Review to address other issues including IAS.

Strategic plan on management of invasive in PAs drafted and activities to implement it initiated. Legislative and institutional framework to prevent introduction of alien invasive species established under plant protection Act [reviewed 2012] and associated regulations.
